I-RESEARCH the Middle East

 

Steps

1) Choose any middle eastern country from the map above except Egypt.

2) Read through the topics list (Geography, Religion, Achievements, Politics,
    Economics, and Social Structures- and then choose one to focus on for
    your country research.

3) Choose the form ( how you will present your information)

4) Use the rubric to help yu know how much to accomplish.

5) When you turn in your project, please make sure to include 2-3 pages of
     research notes, along with your bibliography
      (note your bibliography should include 3 sources minimum)

6) Project size? You must be able to carry your project to school without
    any assistance!

7) Some of the books from the Summer Reading List might help your research.

Topics

Below are some topics with questions and examples to help you start your research

Please note when you read "e.g."below, it is theLatin abbreviation that means 'for example.'

GEOGRAPHY
Explore the geography of your country. (e.g.the rivers, oceans, seas, desert, mountains, animals, soil, climate.)

or

Investigate the effect humans have had on the environment of your country,( e.g. human pollution of air and water)(e.g. how are animals and their habitats being affected by the humans who live in your country?)

RELIGION
Describe their rituals or temples (mosques.)
or
Compare their beliefs and sacred books.

ACHIEVEMENTS
Analyze and compare at least 3 achievements from the country you choose. (e.g. poetry, math, science, literature,musitechnology, dance, farming, and art such as pottery, sculpture, and painting.

or

Evaluate the architecture of your country. Why do they build their monuments or houses in certain shapes?

POLITICS
Who are their leaders and how do they become powerful? What types of government and laws do they use?

ECONOMICS
Investigate how money works in your country.

(e.g. What does your country import and export?)

(e.g. How does a "regular family" spend and make their money?

SOCIAL STRUCTURE (CULTURE)
Compare and contrast who is poor & who is rich? or who is powerful and whois not and why)

Investigate the gender roles (male-female roles in your country) (e.g. Why do men and women have the same or different jobs, what kind of clothes are required or in fashion, are there rules for marriage? etc.

or

Research and analyze: education, sports, traditons, morals, school, food, everyday life, entertainment, customs, war (How does war or crime affect the people's everyday life) etc.
